Episode 46 – Peter Amidon

Peter Amidon is a nationally recognized educator and publisher of traditional dance for children and communities. He is one of four founders of New England Dancing Masters, publishers of dance materials for children and music/dance educators. Peter and his wife and partner Mary Alice Amidon are in demand throughout the United States as clinicians leading Orff and Kodaly music teacher workshops, and have been headliners at several AOSA and OAKE national conferences and are honored to be members of the AOSA Advocacy Council. Peter is also a choral arranger, leader and publisher, He co-directs the Guilford (VT) Community Church Choir and the Hallowell Hospice Singers. His choral arrangements and compositions are being sung by choruses throughout the United States and the UK. Peter spent twenty-five years leading elementary school residencies of traditional dance, song and storytelling, and he is a former elementary school music teacher. He was the lyricist and composer for four original musicals written with Stephen Stearns for Brattleboro Vermont’s New England Youth Theater. Peter and Mary Alice live in Brattleboro, Vermont.
