Episode 45 – Jim Cirillo
Wed. Sept 16, 11 am EST
A native of Lyndhurst, OH, Jim’s musical training began on piano at age 10 and then moved to saxophone at age 11. As Jim’s talents emerged he was accepted as a freshman into Lakeland’s Jazz Impact under the direction of Len Orcino (all star high school jazz ensemble) where his love of jazz and improvised music developed.
Since then Jim has sought out diverse musical settings including recent international travel to countries such as Thailand, Australia, Cuba and Philippines to explore other cultures and share musical experiences. Not solely a jazzophile, Jim enjoys “any music that has a base of soul and has an improvisational element”, which is a long list including blues, R&B, soul, rock, fusion, reggae and salsa.
